Bush’s Funeral: Who’s it really about?

As George H.W. Bush’s funeral was on Dec. 5, people chimed in on Twitter during the ceremonyl with the #GeorgeHWBushFuneral to express condolences and criticisms. One of the main arguments were between people who thought the funeral was a lovely service and that the late president’s son, George W. Bush, did a wonderful job on the eulogy and people who believed the president’s funeral was over-the-top.

Evidenced in the tweets some thought the younger Bush’s eulogy was “touching” and “elegant,” some thought though there was a lot of “pomp” and pageantry,” Bush did a good job and others though the service was ridiculous and extravagant. The support of the Bush outweighed the disapproval with the specific hashtag.

Another issue was between people who wanted to criticize Trump throughout the service, taking attention away from who the funeral was for, and people who thought Trump is a good president and wasn’t acting inappropriately during the service.

In tweets, it’s shown that some people referred to Hillary Clinton as the true 45th president, while another tweeter referred to her as a “hateful, bitter old bat.” More people on Twitter who used #GeorgeHWBushFuneral disapproved of Trump at the funeral than sympathized.
