Hashtag Reasons To Vote For Democrats Shows Up On Twitter

Recently, I saw that #ReasonsToVoteForDemocrats was showing up on Twitter. The trend comes from a tweet written by Donald Trump in which he mentions a book with the name “Reasons To Vote For Democrats” by Michael J. Knowles. In the tweet, Trump describes the work as “A great book for your reading enjoyment:”. According to Business Insider, the book consists of completely blank pages, which Trump saw as the perfect opportunity to jokingly reprimand democrats.

On Twitter, some users caught on to the hashtag, joining in on the joke and “promoting” the book as well.

Some saw the trend as an opportunity to let their sarcasm out, while expressing they really feel.

While many of the tweets went along with the joke that Trump incited, others didn’t hesitate to actually use the hashtag as a chance to criticize the context of it. Someone actually voiced their opinion explaining how it’s kind of a waste to buy a book with completely blank pages just for the sake of making a joke.

Others used the hashtag as a way to make serious comments and actually give legitimate reasons to vote for democrats. The users that turned the hashtag into an opportunity to defend democraitc views, show how a joke made by the current president of the United States, which criticize and possibly offends a large group of its citizens, can be turned into something positive and useful.
