Personal Influence Growth and Analysis & Top 10 Tweets/Posts

INFLUENCE

At the beginning of this semester I had 783 followers on Twitter and I now have 813 followers on Twitter. That is an increase of a whopping 30 followers over the course of the past few months.

Not that this increase is anything super notable, but it seems like the more niche I get on my account the better it does. At this point my Twitter is damn near a Nintendo/Gaga/Naomi Smalls stan account and my followers are apparently appreciating it. Also the posts that get the most engagement for me are the ones that include pictures of myself. This does absolutely nothing for my ego but i appreciate the engagement.

What doesn’t work for me (in terms of engagement at least) is me live tweeting my mental break downs at 3:00a.m. It doesn’t seem to be a prime time for most of my followers to be active.

Nevada’s Visit

The day Professor Grygiel’s dog came to visit us was arguably the best class of the semester. I took her visit as a chance to make a joke about Newhouse’s network. Also, that morning, Nevada just got a Twitter! So it was the perfect opportunity to engage and I even got a follow back.

Dooley’s Blues

Dog Twitter is huge and there are many accounts dedicated to it. One of the biggest accounts like this is We Rate Dogs. I have tagged them in something before and it blew up (relatively speaking). So, when my mom sent me this picture of my labradoodle, Dooley, “missing me” I decided to try again. Didn’t work out as well this time but you can never go wrong with dog content!

Friendly Banter

Its always fun to make fun of your friends on Twitter and its even better when you get an assignment for class that allows you to do so.

Friendly Banter: Part 2

During the assignment where we had to mimic someones voice, I couldn’t help myself from taking the opportunity to make fun of my pal again. Yes. this is actually how he talks. His brother even replied “Pull Up” thinking I was being serious because everyone outside Philly is this obnoxious.

Activism

Activism is something very central to me and who I am. A lot of people have fallen into this sort of “slacktivism” , that allows them to just retweet something and feel like they’ve done their part. I think social media is important when it comes to activism but it can’t be the only tactic. So, i decided to share some of what I’ve been involved with.

Activism cont.

Our class discussion about irl social media really got me thinking about how much of activism is real world social media. Its all about getting messages out there and interacting with people but in more of an applicable, actionable social way rather than a passive, entertainment social way. I wanted to engage in that idea on my twitter feed.

Narcism

Any chance I get to show off my mediocre makeup skills and post too many pictures of myself, I’ll take. This performed worse than my usual narcissist ventures because I don’t think my followers like the addition of the foreign hashtag.

Social Media That Matters

As I’m sure you’ve gathered, I am a firm believer in social media having the potential to really make a difference. Where it can’t be the only tactic, it still can prove to be very helpful to the cause. It’s a great way to get messages out there and helps immensely in organizing people. If used properly with other tactics, social media can really make or break a movement.

Never Too Many Dogs

My fellow #NHSMC student posted a picture of her dog and I just had to jump on the bandwagon.
