Social Influence

Starting out in this course, I was not an avid Twitter user. Over the course of the semester I was able to take all of the strategies and lessons we learned in class and apply them to create a new Twitter focused skillset. Since the beginning of this course my Klout score has risen from 19 to 47. I started with 0 followers on Twitter and rose to 36.

With some of the following tweets, I was able to encourage some interaction and engagement. Most of the tweets that did the best included some sort of graphic or photo with it.

Over the course of this semester, I learned that tweets that use hashtags to pull in specific audiences and communities, along with relatable text, are the most effective in increasing engagement.Β By engagement, I am specifically referring to retweets, likes, and replies.

Emoji helped to make my tweets more fun and interesting to look at. I also noticed that plain text without something funny or witty to make it more interactive did not do as well as my tweets that did include some sort of voice, emoji, or graphic.

My biggest take away from this course was the importance of timeliness and scheduling. Live tweeting, engaging with a trending hashtag, and keeping an active presence on Twitter, have all helped to positively impact my follower count as well as engagement. I only hope to take all that I have learned and to continue to apply it in order to one day reach social influencer status.
