The Snubs and Surprises of the Golden Globes Nominations

This year’s Golden Globes nominations, as always, have set the internet ablaze with hot takes about the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s picks for the top movies and TV of the past year. There is so much new, amazing content being produced these days, so it would be impossible for the awards show to highlight everything. That doesn’t keep the denizens of Twitter from voicing their opinions, though.

There were hot takes aplenty, from outrage over certain movies being snubbed to anger over others being favored. Fans lamented that films like Paddington 2Hereditary, and First Reformed, for example, were overlooked, and the disagreement here comes from the movies and genres that weren’t included:

Other users took issue with certain people that were nominated for the award. The polarizing hit A Star Is Born fit firmly into this category, with some users defending director Bradley Copper and others criticizing him:

Still others were upset by the lack of diversity in the major categories. The best director category, which features Bradley Cooper, doesn’t include a single woman.

When it comes to awards season, though, this is par for the course. The real drama is coming on January 6.
