Top 10 Top 10 Top 10 @themegkelly

A compilation of my most influential posts from my work in COM 427 – learning the best practices of the Twitter platform

1. #FollowFriday

  • 4,133 impressions – 55 engagements – 1.4% engagement rate
  • 3 Retweets – 5 Likes

For my #FollowFriday I included in my tweet three #sportbiz accounts with content I truly enjoy on my timeline and relevant hashtags.  Two of my retweets came from accounts tagged in the tweet, and the third came from the personal account of the man behind the @sportsbizchron account.

2. Travis Scott & Kylie Jenner gossip

  • 2,010 impressions – 70 engagements – 3.5% engagement rate
  • 4 Retweets – 26 Likes

This tweet was timely because it was just a few days after Kylie revealed via YouTube video that she was indeed pregnant for 9 months and she had her baby. Nine months prior to this, Travis Scott was performing at Syracuse for our annual Block Party concert. This reached a wide engagement because it related to both the Syracuse audience and the general public with the #kyliejennerbaby that was viral at the time. My Klout raised from 25 to 36 points from Feb 4 to Feb 8. I believe this tweet is directly related to the raise in my Klout score.

3. That one time I went viral

  • 1,614 organic impressions – 478 promoted impressions – 128 engagements – 7.7% engagement rate
  • 7 Retweets – 11 Likes

This was a Website Card I promoted out with Twitter Ads as part of the Viral Challenge. This was also pinned to the top of my profile for the duration of the challenge. During this week, I lost about 8 followers. I would connect this loss in followers to the numerous tweets that were sent out that week with my meme attached. I still ended the semester with a gain of 8 followers.

4. Zuckerberg Testimony

  • 1,217 impressions – 177 media views – 40 engagements – 3.3% engagement rate
  • 3 Retweets – 13 Likes

The rich media aspect drew attention to this tweet, while also the timing of this tweet during the Zuckerberg Testimony with the relevant hashtags and mentions helped too. And of course, being retweeted by @ almost immediately after tweeting helped bring in traffic from her followers.

5. ESPN – Called out

  • 1,101 impressions – 17 engagements – 1.6% engagement rate
  • 1 Retweet – 5 Likes

I quote tweeted @espn and responded, without it being a reply by adding a period, to draw attention to the fact that there are 11 men and 1 woman on this poster. I am a huge fan of sports and the business of sports, but female athletes will never be as successful as the numerous male athletes if they are not promoted the same. I believe it is important to highlight when brands highlight athletes successfully and not successfully.

6. IRL Wall Post

  • 810 impressions – 92 engagements – 11.4% engagement rate
  • 1 Retweet – 5 Likes

This was our first assignment in COM 427, and I believe it was so successful because of the rich media attached to the post.

7. Autism Awareness Month

  • 680 impressions – 15 engagements – 2.1% engagement rate
  • 2 Retweets – 5 Likes

This tweet was successful due to the many mentions and trending hashtags. It also was very timely, given April is Autism Awareness Month. The rich media in this tweet is a video, thus even more engaging.

8. #NYTOpinion

  • 555 impressions – 34 engagements – 6.2% engagement
  • 1 Retweet – 4 Likes

This was a successful tweet for a few reasons: the article attached had a bright and colorful cover photo, and the sample quote from the article drew more engagement from followers who wanted to read more. Being retweeted by  helped too.

9. Twitter Collage

  • 517 impressions – 126 engagements – 24.6% engagement rate
  • 8 Likes

For this assignment, I mixed famous reaction memes with a photo of myself (a live reaction of me indeed reacting at a Syracuse basketball game) the day the Syracuse basketball team beat Wake Forest. This resonated with Syracuse fans and the public because of the mix of memes. I was able to arrange the photos to in a way that the main image is in frame.

10. Cuse v. Clemson

  • 330 impressions – 40 engagements – 12.5% engagement rate
  • 2 Likes

This tweet highlighted the difference between the mentions of Syracuse and Clemson after the shocking upset in football in the fall by Syracuse and after Syracuse beat Clemson again in basketball in the spring. This was a timely tweet because the basketball game had just happened the day before. Plus with the use of the Google Trends graphs, clever and trending hashtags and mentions, this tweet was able to reach a wide audience.

My engagement levels, my followers, creativity in posts, content options, and most importantly my Klout, have all increased in the last 3 months – undoubtedly due to the methods and best practices gained from this class.
