Viral Content Challenge

Objective:

500 clicks on my meme via Imgur

Meme:

Business Majors

Webcard:

Engagements and Spend:

Analysis:

My meme was not successful, despite the fact that I accidentally clicked “spend per day” rather than “total spend,” and thus went over budget. I found that the most effective method of driving views was explaining that it was for a class, so I think my webcard would’ve been more successful if it had explained that it was an assignment.

Overall, I think that my meme was too specific to resonate with everyone, as it was targeted at college students, but not niche enough to go viral within a particular community. I think it could’ve been improved by focusing on the dog aspect, rather than connecting the suit to business majors. There is a huge dog-lover community on Twitter, with accounts such as Dog Rates and Thought of Dog gaining thousands of likes and retweets. In comparison, I don’t know of any community that exists to poke fun at business majors. If I make viral content in the future, I will make sure that it targets a niche community with many members, and I will research that community in order to understand what its members will share.
