Why We Use Social Media

Social media has changed life as we know it today. Social media opened up a whole new world of possibilities.  People all over the world use it for countless reasons.  Social media platforms help us connect with not only friends and family, but people all over the world.  No matter how similar, or different two people may be, social media is something that they can share in common.  With just a few clicks of a button, you can talk to someone you haven’t seen in ten years, or with someone who lives halfway across the world.  Besides connections, social media allows us to express our true feelings.  You are free to write how you feel about any topic and there will be people on the other side who will listen.  This freedom of expression allows people to explore who they truly are and find other people who are just like them.  Social media allows you to share memories, announcements, pictures, anything you can think of.  It has become such a vital part of our society that some people feel they cannot live without it.  Not only is it just used for recreational use, but it can be an amazing tool to use in the corporate world as well.  It is so important that we embrace these times and realize how fortunate we are to have social media to help us shape our lives and personalities.  Without it, everyone’s lives would not be so interconnected, and we may begin to feel a sense of distance.  Social media has added depth to our society, and very positive impacts.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your blog post and I liked how you stated that it is a way of freedom of expression. I agree that it is a way to stay connected but can open new opportunities. I don’t think people nowadays appreciate that or give social media enough credit for allowing them to do those things everyday. It definitely can be a useful tool in the corporate world and will continue to advance rapidly in the near future.
