Will Zeitler Personal Growth and Top 10 Tweets

Summary: In this blog post I will analyze my over social growth from 8/29 to 11/28, what worked to increase my following/what didn’t, and take a closer look at the techniques I used throughout the course.

Part 1:

Influence growth – I created my new twitter handle for this course in place of an old account I rarely used. I began with zero followers on 8/28 but ended with 37 followers overall.

I received the most impressions on tweets related to current issues and hashtags that referenced the specific day’s mood like #motivationmonday or #wednesdaywisdom. Additionally, my tweets and posts that included some type of media whether my own photo or memes really increased the impressions I received. Specifically in September when I was the most active tweeting for both my COM 427 account and another Newhouse class I received 7,000 impressions and 20 new followers! I think what worked the most during this month was my constant activity and the content of my tweets being related to current issues in diversity.

Conclusion: At the beginning of COM 427 I was not a serial social media user. I wasn’t aware of the necessity for me to utilize Twitter to post not only about myself but about cool hashtags and current events. Overall, this class taught me specifically how to use Twitter and now it is a daily part of my life! While my account is more personal using twitter analytics has been a plus and how to analyze data, but it mainly reminded to use different platforms in my career to remain current and up to date.
