Report Viral Video Content Challenge

Background:

Even for those in relationships, dates are pretty uncommon in college. No one has money, time or wants to put in any real investment or commitment to another individual. Once in a while, dates do happen in college. However, even when college students try to go on dates, the reality of what happens falls far below the expectations.

Goals:

  • Re-enforce an identity around what college students experience on dates
  • Make fun of how girls over expect from their dates

Objectives:

  • I will measure the success of my video from reactions, shares and comments on Facebook

Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/serena.sarch/posts/10213714032917608?pnref=story

Metrics:

  • 37 reactions on Facebook
  • 5 comments on Facebook
  • 3 comment reactions on Facebook
  • 113 views on YouTube
  • 3 reactions on YouTube
  • 164 impressions on Twitter
  • 12 engagements on Twitter
  • 1 media view on Twitter
  • 400 views on LinkedIn
  • 2 reactions on LinkedIn

Analyze:

  • I think tagging various BuzzFeed channels worked well in promoting this post because that was a recognizable brand for my followers to engage with.
  • Creating a description that related to my own personal life (“What to know why I’m still single?”) helped in engaging my audience because they obviously know me personally.
  • While I thought posting the YouTube link was the most strategic move, I think I would have gotten more views if I had posted the actual video on Facebook and it could automatically play when my friends scrolled through my page.
  • Surprisingly, I got a large number of views on LinkedIn, but few reactions, so I think I could have created written content with the video to be more relevant to my LinkedIn audience.
  • I could have posted some type of call to action with my content that could have increased engagement. For example, I could have written “share if this has happened to you” in the content.
  • My twitter engagements could have been higher and perhaps, if I could have gotten the video to autoplay they would have been.
  • My content was relatable on Facebook and my audience seemed to enjoy it. This was especially evident in the comments, where my friends expressed the relatable aspect of the video and written content.
