When I initially signed up for Twitter I was unaware of the ways I could make an impact using the platform. Com 427 has taught me how to utilize all Twitter has to offer in terms of their analytics tools, the ability to have paid advertising and the promotion of anything you choose to support or post. Since my twitter has been inactive for about two years I had about 190 followers but I felt as though I was starting over. Previously my twitter was on private but making it open to the public allowed for my engagement from users that may have searched the hashtags I used, instead of constricting it to just my admitted followers. My twitter following grew from 190 followers to 201 so my percentage increase was about 58%. When I turned to Klout.com to discover my score on Twitter and other features I found my score to be a 10 but by the end of this semester my score is up to a 20. Overall I felt that the tool was helpful in helping me track my followers and keep up to date on the different activity that was going on, on my Twitter.
Some of my twitter highlights and most engaged with tweets between 8/28 – 11/29 included the following;
Fashion influencers are taking over social media! Follow @WeWoreWhat @something_navy @SincerelyJules for fun helpful fashion tips! #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/zmcQyy0o1F

This tweet was very exciting because one of the fashion bloggers I tagged, liked my post! That was a big deal and I reached out to her to connect! She has thousands of followers so the fact that my tweet got through and she engaged with it was really cool and showed me that tweeting at the people the inspire and influence you can sometimes work!
Have you checked out this fall fashion yet?? Get on it! #whatsnew #fallstyle https://t.co/LichgAUInd

I am very into fashion and finding out all the fall styles so I chose to gear some of my tweets towards bloggers and influencers. I received two likes but I also included a link to a fashion bloggers website so even though I didn’t receive a lot of engagement on my actual tweet, I am hoping that it reached users who clicked on the link.
The last stairs on the way to class are always the toughest…but making it to class on time sure is great! #finalpush #morningstrugs #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/BxJl8GiD0W

This was my first ever twitter video and it received my most engagement all semester! With 8 likes people really seemed to enjoy the video and I’m sure most college students felt it was relatable to talk about how getting to class on time is a constant struggle.
Even though it’s nice out I still wish I was in these sweet summer spots! #beachlife #poollife #summerfun #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/KMEvpYWaWM

I posted different pictures of my summer and the places I would always rather be. I included pictures of the different landscapes some including geotags so it was easy to figure out where I was. I received 3 likes on this tweet and I felt that the brightness of the pictures was a draw I included different hashtags in an attempt to connect with users who didn’t follow me.
These fashion icons and bloggers help me navigate what to wear when to wear it and how to rock it! #inspo #fashion #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/9apNrNv10v

This list of fashion bloggers was a list I created to help my followers better understand the types of people I choose to fill my newsfeed with and who I look to, to see how to rock a certain outfit or where to shop the best finds. I received two likes on this tweet which included a picture of the list of my influences.
I secretly already knew my most influential follower but social rank was a great confirmation! #feelingfamous #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/BY7Cd1FQOf

Brian Balthazar a “morning show developer”started following me because he was a guest speaker in one of my classes so I followed him and sure enough he followed me back. So when we were assigned to find out our most influential twitter follower I had an intuition that it was him! I also included a gif which I think makes the tweets more enticing to look at because most people enjoy a funny gif related to what you have tweeted about. This tweet received two likes which seemed to be about the average for each of my tweets.
Talking abt @BrianBalthazar in class& how its so cool that he follows me! My professor @jmgrygiel wants to get in on the action too! #NHsmc
— julie miner (@julie_miner97) October 11, 2017
I tweeted at Mr. Balthazar during our COM class because when we spoke about influential followers I was excited to share about him and he responded to me! This was great engagement and by tagging him I caught his attention. Professor Grygiel also tweeted at him during class and he responded to her as well. This was one of my biggest twitter moments this semester it really showed how far reaching your tweets can be! This tweet received 4 likes including Mr. Balthazar and Professor Grygiel.
Never ready on time, you? #NHsmc https://t.co/2Cx9sOLwRS

For one of our blog posts we were instructed to create a meme. I chose to create a meme that is most relative to my life, which entails me never being ready on time. I promoted this tweet and included the link to my Imgur page. I received two likes on this tweet and my Imgur post gained hundreds of views, so I give some credit to my twitter promotions and multiple tweets with my meme.
Monday night football.. what are your picks?? #MNF #2games #doubleaction
— julie miner (@julie_miner97) September 11, 2017
My interest in sports was the inspiration for my tweet regarding Monday Night Football. I chose to include a question because I wanted to reach out to my followers and the public to see their thoughts about the game. My engagement was 2 likes and a response from a user who doesn’t follow me but responded to my tweet with the game predictions. This was my first engagement from a non follower so that was exciting and encouraged my use of hashtags to be easily searchable.
The dove campaign uses social media platforms to help raise awareness about women’s beauty no matter their age! #NHsmchttps://t.co/oaCjD2AkGB

My first tweet for COM 427 was not well engaged with because I didn’t use hashtags that were accessible making it difficult to reach a wide audience. As our class continued on I learned how to make easy to find hashtags and my engagement increased.
Overall I felt that re activating my Twitter helped me to engage with users that I wouldn’t have reached being on private in past years. I think that Twitter is platform of social media sometimes under appreciated but the people you can reach is far and wide with retweeting or tagging a user in your tweet. The Twitter analytics tools helped me to discover important people that were following me that I didn’t know about. Overall I think this class opened my eyes to the positive effects you can make with a social media website such as Twitter and I will continue to tweet in the future for good causes and other important issues.
