Amy Schumer’s new movie, I Feel Pretty, premieres April 20th!! There has been a lot of controversy around the premise of this film. We have two types of people: the haters and the supporters.
The haters are talking about how ridiculous it is that an insecure woman has to get into a life threatening accident in order to feel comfortable in her own skin. In today’s society, majority of women feel self conscious about their body and try to change themselves to please others.
Some negative feedback from the haters: offensive
Since #IFeelPretty comes out on Friday here’s your reminder that you shouldn’t spend $ on it: A movie that shows a “plus-size” girl falling in love with herself by SEEING HERSELF AS A THIN MODEL IS TOXIC AF. THIS IS NOT A BODY-POSITIVITY FILM. STOP ENABLING FAT-PHOBIA.

You wanna know my problem with the movie #IFeelPretty ? No? Well too bad. It's such a stupid concept for a movie. A woman – who isn't even generally unattractive or fat – can only feel beautiful by thinking she's a stick thin supermodel?

As somebody who is by no means skinny, I find #IFeelPretty to be an offensive movie concept. Not only is Amy Schumer not fat, but it's okay for girls who do have a few extra pounds on them to feel pretty without imagining they're skinny. So basically, fuck that movie.

As for the supporters, they suggest that the point of the movie is to make it clear that you shouldn’t worry about what other people think of you #TimesUp. They believe that Amy Schumer is trying to promote positive self-esteem in a comedic and feel good movie.
Some love from the supporters: confidence
I personally think the concept for #IFeelPretty is really good. It doesn’t matter that its 2018 and body positivity is a big thing now. The basic image of beauty is never going to change and the movie is trying to say if you feel pretty your confidence makes you more attractive

.@amyschumer says #IFeelPretty is important in 2018 because it's about women finding their full potential pic.twitter.com/q1X5PQJfCc

I’m getting furious about those saying Amy Schumer is too pretty to lack self confidence in #IFeelPretty. That is the most disgusting argument. It’s not about how OTHERS see you, it’s about how you see yourself.
