Let’s Get Viral

#MAMB stands for Making Average Moments Beautiful. This is a social media campaign initiative with the objective to get young adult social media users to find something beautiful even in the most average of days. I want to encourage others to find a reason to love and appreciate even their worst days.

Description: This card has a photo of an ordinary moment I found beautiful in my life with a message for others to make average moments beautiful #MAMB.

My target audience for this campaign is social media users on Pinterest and Twitter. More specifically, I would like to start a trend for #MAMB among my generation (high school/college students and young adults). I will promote the content by scheduling two tweets a day over the course of one week. In these tweets, I will direct users to engage in the campaign by sharing my Pinterest pin and sharing then sharing a photo of their own.

The pin includes a photo of a stoplight that I pass through everyday I am at home, accompanied by an encouraging message to start a chain of beautiful average moments. The message says, “Share this photo to start the chain. Then share an original photo of something average that you find beautiful. And remember: make average moments beautiful #MAMB.”

I chose the photo of this stoplight because I drive through it everyday, not thinking much about what it means to me. This stoplight is such a necessary part of my day, as it is the last stoplight I encounter before getting home. One day, I happened to notice how beautiful the sun looked peering out behind it.

Sharing this moment is important because it encourages others to find ordinary, or average, moments in their days, beautiful. It is a reminder that we all get stuck in the sameness of our routines. We sometimes feel trapped by the monotonous schedules we set for ourselves. This campaign ignites a call for appreciation. It encourages people to not only share others’ beautiful, average moments, but to also find beautiful moments of their own even in their worst days.

I believe this content will go viral because it starts a chain of sharing photos via Twitter and Pinterest. It requires that others share the initial pin on Pinterest in order to spread the message, and follow up by posting something of their own along with the hashtag #MAMB. By increasing the use of this hashtag and requiring that the initial photo be shared, the content has the potential to go viral across multiple social media platforms.

This campaign is a call to action to social media users. They will not be displeased by the idea of doing a little work themselves because the photo doesn’t have to appear professional or outstanding. It can be simple and ordinary, as long as it is something they find beautiful. If anything, this campaign ignites a bit of irregularity and spontaneity that the average social media user may have been missing from his/her days.
