Late last week, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez – currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd – was found not guilty of a 2012 double murder. This was huge news, even though Hernandez is still serving a life sentence, and brought up the prospect of Hernandez only needing to win one murder appeal to become a free man. Twitter reacted, some against Hernandez and some for him. Four of the below tweets reinforce what many think, that Hernandez is a killer deserving to spend the rest of his life in jail. The two opposing views are one tweet with video of Hernandez’s mom saying she is “very happy” as she exits the courthouse (expected, obviously, since she is his mom) and one user saying they were overjoyed that Hernandez was found not guilty of the double murder. This just goes to show that, although it seems most people agree on what punishment Hernandez deserves, there are indeed people out there who for one reason or another feel the opposite.
