I tweeted only sporadically before the start of this class, and even during class rarely tweeted anything not required with the class hashtag. With that being said, I am a more active Twitter user now, and I’d like to continue that trend.
Here are my top NHsmtp tweets, chronologically.
#followfriday #NHsmtp @SeinfeldToday (like the show never ended) @leahstacy (media maven) @StephanieJWong (fashion+beauty)

This was my first #FollowFriday tweet. I chose three accounts that I knew would be appealing to my followers, including the comedic @SeinfeldToday and two media professionals I personally know.
"Pop songs are not inherently devoid of meaning, and alternative genres are not deep by default." BINGO. #NHsmtp http://t.co/db2Ner3wpg

I had hoped to have more engagement for this tweet, because the article I linked was impressive and worth reading. I included a pull quote, but should have used content specific a hashtag. Why didn’t I use another hashtag? Sigh.

I made this GIF of a football fan crowd leaving after an Orange game. Perhaps I should have found a more exciting action to record.

This was one of my favorite tweets this semester, in part because of the colors. It struck me as I walked to school, and I thought other people would appreciate it. Again, I should have posted it with another relevant hashtag. I later posted a follow up, which I’ll include in this post.
Carve a musical pumpkin for a chance to see @perlmanofficial with @symphoriacny on Nov. 1. #PerlmanPumpkin #NHsmtp https://t.co/w94M9QAuCH

I created the #PerlmanPumpkin hashtag to accompany my first Social Media blog post, and to hopefully boost the awareness of the contest for Symphoria. Based on my engagement rate, I don’t know if I helped at all, but it was pretty catchy, at least.

This was my follow up stock post to the previous leaf post. In order to increase reach and engagement, I added the #fall hashtag. Unfortunately, I had the same engagement as my first leaf post.
I'm convinced that Adnan Syed is #innocent. The reopening of his case is encouraging news. #justice #NHsmtp https://t.co/1jEHTZo54m

This was my “something positive” post. I followed the entire “Serial” podcast last year, and it was encouraging to see this update. To boost engagement, I should have tagged a friend who also listens.
The social action campaign assignment was one of the best for my twitter presence. It was also the most important to me personally because Syracuse is my hometown, and Spike use is out of control.
"Synthetic Marijuana" is a dangerous misnomer. This chemical potpourri is wreaking havoc in our little city. #SyntheticNOTsafe #NHsmtp

One of my classmates also used the original #syntheticNOTsafe hashtag and had good engagement on her tweets. I posted two other tweets that week for the campaign, including this interview with Syracuse based writer, Steve Featherstone:

This was my highest engagement rate. The audio interview was another way to diversify my media content. My third and final tweet for the campaign wasn’t as successful, with a dismal engagement rate of zero. 🙁
A belated #FlashbackFriday–okay it's Saturday–to this delightful @BenVereen performance on Johnny Carson. #NHsmtp https://t.co/n1tGd7TO2k

Impressions: 48 Engagement: 1 Engagement Rates: 2.1%
This was my last tweet. I tried to engage with @BenVereen, who has the highest Klout score of my followers. I also included a video to further diversify the media content in my posts. I had a sad engagement of only 1. I should have included a hashtag of #theater or #Pippin. I thought the impressions would have been higher, considering the 32,000 followers on the Ben Vereen account.
Overall, I wish I’d done more to boost my engagement rates, but my twitter presence has increased and I’m much more active now than I was before this class.
Like you, I have become a much more active Twitter user now that I have taken this course. I also think it is interesting that you and I both had similar “top ten Tweets.” For example, in my post I also included my activism Tweets and one that utilized a day-of-the-week hashtag.
I also remember seeing your fall leaves Tweet back in the beginning of the semester and thinking it was successful. The humor and bright photography definitely make it a Tweet worth reading.
Also, as I meant to tell you earlier, good job with your Tweeting activism. You were really proactive when finding an issue and creating a way for the rest of to join you in your attempt to make a social change.
