After the Presidential Election, one “blue state” has formed it’s own Twitter hashtag in support of a California succession from the Union. Although it sounds grandiose, many Californians feel very passionately about leaving the USA and demonstrators have taken to the streets in protest in addition to taking to the internet. Two opposing views I found interesting were one from Philip DeFranco, a reputable journalist who thinks that the #Calexit isn’t as easy as 6 characters in a tweet, as well as from a more conservative Twitter account that shared its opposition through a meme.
In support of #Calexit:
Ok so I've decided to go full California secessionist. If you don't like it you can get out of my face. #Calexit

#Calexit means we can allocate our taxes away from weapons of war and instead focus on improving the quality of life in California. #defense

If #CalExit happens republicans would win every election for the next 100 years.
Where do I sign up?

The Opposition:
People keep asking me if I support #Calexit.

California wants to secede… didn't they run out of water? Like, last year?
