Objective:
The objective of this meme is to get 500 plus views on imgur.com.
Background:
This swan meme is telling the sarcastic story of someone who has been seeing a guy, semi exclusively and then he asks another girl to attend a date party with him instead of her. A date party is something that many fraternities have at colleges, including Syracuse University. Date parties usually involve a guy asking someone to be their date for the night and attend a fun party with them. The man in the swan is supposed to represent the girl who was not asked to the date party. The symbolism of the man hiding in the swan is supposed to represent the girl ‘stalking’ their ‘exclusive boyfriend’ with another girl. While doing research for this project, I was searching for ‘2019 funniest memes’ on Google for inspiration. I came across this article on Urban Therapy that displayed this meme: This is the meme that inspired me to create my own original meme.
Analysis:
After creating my meme campaign, I needed to stick to my objective and try to get over 500+ views on Imgur. Once I posted it out to the public, I expected to easily get the views, however that wasn’t the case. The first time I posted it out to imgur, I only got 95 views. I realized the reason that my post didn’t blow up was because I used incorrect hashtags, and therefore didn’t get the engagement I wanted. After realizing what I did wrong, I posted the meme out a second time with the hashtags #funny, #funnymeme, #omg, #relatable, and #haha. Once I posted the meme a second time with those hashtags, my meme got the views I wanted. As of today, November 11th, I have 662 views. Here is my final result:
