At the start of #NHsmc on August 29th until the end on November 20th, I had a 9.01% Twitter follower growth. I started with 322 followers and gained 29 more followers, I ended up finishing #NHsmc with 351 followers on Twitter.
Over the 90 day period, my Klout score increased from a 45 to a 59.
I think what worked well was when I added some sort of media content to my tweets, it added to the level of engagement of the tweet and gave those who viewed it on Twitter something more to look at then just the tweet’s copy. The subject of the tweet also seemed to impact my success, when it came to engagement. When the subject of the tweet was something that my audience could relate to, it seemed to receive more engagement. Tweets that resonated with my audience and had a personal touch to them, had more engagement then when I tweeted about stories in the news.
What I noticed that didn’t work well, is when I would go for a couple days without tweeting or only tweeting a few times. When this would happen, I noticed that (of course) my follower count didn’t increase but I actually lost followers! The more active I was on Twitter, helped engage my followers and therefore built a relationship with them through my tweets.
Overall, I noticed that the better executed the tweets were the greater engagement I received on them, which then leads to the greater influence I had on Twitter.
My Top Tweets:
Looking back in my camera roll and appreciating all the beauty that Syracuse has to offer #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/wdIfSxsWva

Engagement: 53
They engagement rate was 53, it was this high because of the gallery of pictures. It was also do impart to the fact that a lot of my followers are in the Syracuse community so they probably interacted with the tweet because Syracuse is something that they are familiar with.
I went through my camera roll and found some pictures of Syracuse that I had taken of the past couple of years. Sometimes I feel that we often over look the beauty around us (especially in Syracuse, people think it only snows here!) So I wanted remind the Syracuse community and show other people outside of this community its Beauty.
Seeing this spectacular world just got a little easier! #TravelTuesday #Traveling #NHsmc https://t.co/4a5UJS9fIx pic.twitter.com/p0VAQCzmsX

Engagement: 26
The engagement on this tweet was 26. Blogging and tweeting about traveling is on this platform is way “travel experts” get their information to their audience by that including relevant hash tags like #TravelTuesday and #Traveling, people who wanted to view traveling on Twitter would see my list.
I created this list because I am passionate about traveling. I made a list, in the list I added all of the travel accounts that I follow. I have not gotten the opportunity to travel aboard, I want to travel the world and until I am able to this list of pictures and articles relating to travel will satisfy!
Messing around with the 360 view in @NewhouseSU with @BridgeMargaretE as we walk to class! #alwaysfun #NHsmc @SyracuseU pic.twitter.com/imzhMsT0qo

Engagement: 76
I received 76 engagements on this tweet, I received this high of engagement because of the different communities were exposed to it. I tagged the Newhouse and Syracuse University twitter accounts, which probably led to some exposure. I also tagged Margaret and she retweeted it, which then led to her followers seeing the tweet.
I have always thought the 360 view was so cool, I sometimes stop and play with it. One day after class, my friend Margaret started to play with and I decided to record it, then I posted the video to Twitter.
Hey @FoodNetwork, can I have my own show? #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/XMfm7Bj8tM

Engagement: 65
I received 65 engagements on this tweet, I think I received this engagements because the media included. I think the copy was humorous and there was a video attached, so people decided to watch it.
I created this video when I was making lunch for myself. I recorded a video on Twitter and then shared it out to my followers. I was watching a lot of the food network and was inspired to create my own “mini” show.
I don't know if I'm ready to let got of summer and its beautiful weather and views https://t.co/9ZgQLNZoZJ #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/iTDjibaJEc

Engagement: 16
I received 16 engagements from this tweet, I believe that the reason it got the amount of engagements it did is because of the copy of the tweet. I tweeted this out in late September, right around the time it started to get cold and no one likes dreary winter, so I think people were engaging with the tweet because the subject resonated with them. I think I could have received higher engagement if I included hashtags relating to summer being over.
This tweet was created by tweeting out the link to the media page on twitter. When I was creating the link I realized the last four pictures I tweeted were of nature, so I decided to make the copy about nature.
Waiting for this week to end and ready for Thanksgiving break to start! #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/iRQQluSSgz

Engagement: 16
I received 16 engagements from this tweet. I believe I got this level of engagement because of the media and subject that I used. I think that by creating content on snapchat using a Bitmoji, text, and a picture of a Syracuse landmark made people engage with it but by also adding “Waiting for this week to end and ready for thanksgiving break to start” not only resonated with my followers in the Syracuse community but all of my followers too.
This tweet was created by taking a picture of Hall of Languages on Snapchat and then adding my bitmoji and text to the picture. Then I saved the picture to my camera roll and tweeted it out to my followers.
Hi @andreaniper, I was thinking about soccer memories today! Hopefully I'll see you over thanksgiving break and we can catch up! #NHsmc

Engagement: 13
I received 13 engagements on this tweet because I was reaching out to an old friend who I played soccer with, between both of us we have a lot of mutual weak ties that follow both of us on Twitter. I believe that our followers saw this tweet and interacted with it because they know both of us.
I tweeted this out because I realized that this is an old friend that I lost touch with over the years. I wanted to reach out and connect with her again!
Which platform do you prefer creating a story on? #SocialMedia #NHsmc
— Abigail Hewel (@abigailhewel) November 14, 2016
Engagement: 13
I received 13 engagements on this tweet, the reason why I think this tweet received the engagement that it did was because I asked a question for people on Twitter to answer. At the time, Instagram recently created stories on the platform and Snapchat was adjusting its interface to compete because of this there was a debate that was going on about which platform was better for “stories.” I think this tweet could have been more successful if used hashtags relating to Instagram and Snapchat stories instead of just using #SocialMedia.
I created this tweet because of the debate surrounding Snapchat and Instagram stories. When curating my tweet, I clicked on the poll button and I was able to create a poll in my tweet.
Proud to say I finally figured out how to work IOS 10 💪 #NHsmc

I received 13 engagements on this tweet, I think that media used in this tweet is what drove engagement because people were probably curious as to what was written on the wall. Every time I see words written on something other than a piece of paper or a textbook, my eyes are drawn to it and I want to know what it says.
I created this tweet by taking a picture of a wall while studying in Bird Library and then tweeting it out to my followers.
