We chose these Boolean Search criteria because we wanted the tweet to be about Lady Gaga, including the hashtag of her movie, but excluding Bradley Cooper, who also had a lead role. This returned a high number of tweets, including the highest engaged tweet we featured.

The engagement criteria we first set in TweetDeck was 100 retweets, 100 favorites and 100 replies, in order to see which tweets were returned. We found that we needed to gradually set the engagement parameters higher, and ended up with 5,000 retweets, 50,000 likes and 1,000 replies in order to filter out the tweets that weren’t trending. This is also how we found which tweet garnered the most engagement.

Overall, we found that A Star Is Born still remains trending three weeks after its release. The movie’s soundtrack has dominated the top hits charts around the world, with the song Shallow being the number one song in the United Kingdom and Australia.
