This time last year cryptocurrencies, specifically Bitcoin, were much less mainstream than they are today. In the past year Bitcoin has risen from a small, futuristic currency to a reality. In these tweets, people are talking about Bitcoin’s recent surge to reach almost $10,000 per coin. While many people are still skeptical, others are gloating about the Bitcoin “haters” being proven wrong. In the first 4 tweets, obvious backers of the famous cryptocurrency are trying to inform their followers about the real growth and value of Bitcoin. @Datavetaran is laughing at those who say it’s a bubble and now can’t fall back on that argument anymore, while @ErikVoorhees even went as far to predict it would be the most valuable finance company in ten years. On the other side, @chat_crypto still believes there is a bubble/correction coming and Bitcoin won’t be as valuable as it seems now. The Bitcoin news twitter also provides the other side, which is that many high up bankers feel Bitcoin and other cryptos are not here to stay. Overall, there is still a debate about Bitcoin, but people are beginning to make it a mainstream trending topic.
