- From 1/17 to 4/18 I went from 0 to 11 followers, the is over 100% growth rate. l’m bad at math so hope I it was calculated correctly.
- Klout score change: I went from 20 to 25 as my score
- Being active on Twitter definitely helped. For example, I live tweeted the Oscars and got a lot of engagement with retweets. Using rich media also made my tweets more lively and engaging. I particularly love using gifs and while I don’t stick to a particular theme when I pick the gifs to use, I make sure they’re appropriate. I also steer clear from political gifs and I think that helps influence engagement. What also worked was following a bunch of people and them following me back. At the same time though, this cluttered my time line with things I didn’t necessarily need/want to see as they didn’t interest me. I would like to reply into people’s tweets more. I personally struggle with adding my voice into other’s people’s opinions because it’s not my taste to get into their business even if they post it online.
Excited for @peggyorenstein DONT CALL ME PRINCESS. With that also don’t call me “Sugar” “Baby Doll” “Angel” ✋🏼 #TimesUp #CallMeByMyName #Nhsmc

One of my most engaged with tweets includes reaching out to an influencer. I picked Peggy Orenstein because I knew she was releasing a new book. With that she would want to interact with as many fans as possible. This is how I knew she’d be a good person to engage with. I made sure to use relevant hashtags, plus #CallMeByMyName is a play on the film Call Me By Your Name.
My girl @TiffanyHaddish at the #Oscars is 10000% my spirit animal 🙌🏼 #Oscars90 #Oscars2018

This tweet gained a lot of traction because of the timeliness and love for Tiffany Haddish. My girl was making waves and everyone loved seeing her on the red carpet in an gown she had previously owned. People love Tiffany and I love engagements with people.
What snack should I watch with the #Oscars? 🍿🍩🍕#Oscars90 #OscarSunday #Nhsmc

A poll was a nice way to engage with people. Posing a question and all you have to do is click an answer is a fun way to get people to participate in your content. Adding emojis also makes the tweet more digestible.
Not saying #vicks should hire me or that this was sponsored in anyway 🤧#nosickdays #nhsmc @NyQuilDayQuil pic.twitter.com/FjYl4or6AA

I didn’t think this tweet would have as many impressions as it did. It was just a silly video because I was feeling sick that day. However, with its timeliness and emoji I think it really added to the vast engagement. Also, the NyQuil team needs to step up their social media presence.
How I feel when a man tries to tell me what I can and can't do with MY body @nbcsnl #NataliePortman #nhsmc #iconic #TimesUp pic.twitter.com/2lA2C4S1Sq

Creating my own gif was fun. Natalie Portman was fresh off her SNL host so I thought this was one of the most relevant gifs to make. The #TimesUp movement still has a lot of buzz and it shouldn’t die down so I made sure to include it with my tweet.
Sooo @Babrow002 where’s the #SuperBowl2018 watch party? I’ll bring the chips, guac & an attitude that’ll take down the @Patriots #nhsmc 🏈

Interacting with another fellow NHSMC student gained much impressions as well. I made sure to make it a timely and relevant tweet. I knew she was a an Eagles fan and by default for not rooting for the Patriots I also was one too. People love commonality. It’s why interacting was easier if you have something to gush about.

I had a chef retweet me and I think it was because of all the food angles. Really though, the success from this picture comes from the uniformity of food pictures. I made sure to include a variety of shots and different colors to make this tweet stand out.
Amazing #food @barcadenewyork!! Can someone #SayGrilledCheeeeeese #nhsmc 🧀🥪☺️ pic.twitter.com/eZVyaLIZtg

Another food tweet, I realize people love food and the unique hashtag makes the content more fun. Also the restaurant of this food retweeted me. I’d definitely vouch for them as it was a great place. Always add an emoji!
Here's my #ICYMI moment where I talk about my cute animal videos being interrupted by an ad #savethefish 🐳🐠🐟🐢 #nhsmc

The success from this tweet comes from the abundance of emojis and using a relevant hashtag. Adding a link to your content drives more viewers, which is what we want.

I really enjoyed the influencers tweet. I tried reaching out to people who truly impacted my identity and love for media. While I didn’t get any follow backs I did get lots of impressions. Also, I used a gif to demonstrate how much of a boss these people are. In retrospect, maybe using a gif of one of the influencers would have worked better.
Overall I had a great experience and will continue to use these skills while outside the classroom. I’ve come to enjoy Twitter more than when I started this project.
