Semester in a Post

From this semester, my social media presence has grown tremendously. From learning different techniques about what to post on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat, I know understand what it takes to create posts with higher engagement. This class was highly focused on Twitter, which is a platform I didn’t use too much, for some reason; I now find myself obsessed with tweeting, retweeting, and liking other peoples posts. Before this class, I started my Twitter with 51 followers and now today, I have 91 followers. This shows an increase of 40 followers in about three months and a 78.43% gain for my overall Twitter followers. For Klout, I started with 13.61 and today’s score I had 36.57. Below, through Twitter Analytics and SquareLoving, I analyzed my most successful tweets on Twitter and posts on Instagram.

1) Business Cards for the Win

This was definitely my Tweet with the most engagement. With 1,293 impressions, 61 total engagements, 41 media engagements, 9 likes, 4 profile clicks, and 2 replies, I would say this tweet was a success. @MOO even liked my tweet, and replied “Wonderful! We’d give you an A+ ;^)” By having @MOO respond to my tweet, as well as the interesting photograph, was definitely the reason that this post was my most successful tweet.

2) Tasty in Action

Although this tweet was not as successful as the first one, I still did receive 607 impressions For this tweet, I had 17 total engagements, 10 media engagements, 3 likes, 1 retweet, and 1 profile click. By posting a photograph, and mentioning influential Twitter handles, was a huge component of why this tweet did so well.

3) Influence Tweet

This tweet has 496 impressions, 51 media views, 17 total engagements, 7 profile clicks and 2 likes. This tweet had a GIF of Miley Cyrus in it, which helped bump up that media view number. I think this tweet wasn’t as successful as others, because it was more specifically geared towards one individual, yet, the Miley GIF helped balance that out.

4) #Periscope Challenge

This tweet was in response to Professor Grygiel’s tweet about our group drawing project, that we were live streaming through Periscope. This tweet responding to Professor Grygiel received 482 impressions, 6 total engagements, 4 likes, and 2 retweets. This tweet showed humor, as well as had many relevant hashtags. Also, the fact that Professor Grygiel was helping to promote our group project could have been another reason why this post had such high engagement.

5) Going Viral

This tweet was the one that I did my viral media campaign on. This tweet had 63 total engagements. The total number of impressions were 1,118, yet, 760 of them were promoted. This post had 52 link clicks, 4 likes, and 3 profile clicks. This post did so well due to the fact that I paid $5 to have it promoted. Also, I think many people clicked on the tweet because they had to do so in order to read what the picture would say.

6) #Emmys

This post received 337 impressions, 5 total engagements, 4 detail expands, and 1 reply (which was myself). This post did not have any images, or rich media, yet,  the reason it had so many impressions was because of the timeliness of it; it was during the Emmy’s, as I was live tweeting. Also, the hashtag was trending at the moment, which definitely helped the impressions. To have succeeded even more in this post, I should have included rich media like a GIF of Viola or Robin Wright at the Emmys.

7) Israeli Dishes

Food in Israel is simply better than anywhere. #sorrynotsorry #nhsmc

This was my most liked Instagram for #nhsmc. I would say the likes and 3 comments had to do with the fact that this photograph was of food, looks very clean, and is colorful. Also, the fact that this food is from overseas intrigued my followers. Food photos always are a great way to get likes, and works great with showing my personality and the type of photography that I am passionate about.

8) TLV Reflections

With 136 likes and 5 comments, this photograph was my second most popular photograph on Instagram. The overall aesthetic of this photograph is clean, reflective and blue, which obviously intrigued my audience. Also, this photograph was taken in Tel Aviv, so it is not an image that my followers see on the daily, or possibly a scene that they have never seen.

9) Lisbon Swipeable

This post received 136 likes and 4 comments, due to the fact that my audience had to continue swiping to see everything, for increased engagement. This is the first time I used a photo app like this before on my Instagram, showing that my followers engaged well with it.

10) #Periscope Takes Instagram

This video that I posted to Instagram has 203 views. This shows a high level of engagement, due to the boomerang aspect of this video. It was fast enough that people didn’t have to watch it forever while scrolling through their feed, yet, many people did stop for a few seconds to watch my video. Also, this post related to what I was tweeting about at the moment, helping to link two of my social media platforms together.
