Influence
For our class, I decided to deactivate my old twitter account that had 671 followers and start fresh. Starting my new Twitter account @thegnidziejko and trying to get engagement was a challenge. I had ZERO followers, so I started following people that interested me such as Obama, Chrissy Teigen and Kim K as well as my friends and people I knew. My final follower-to-following ratio wasn’t too shabby – I follow 29 people and 20 people follow me (I might just throw in that two of my followers are verified users). My Klout score dramatically increased from a mere 10.00 to a 41.60. On Twitter, I found that using relevant #hashtags and keeping up with current events worked best when trying to get engagement. I also found that it was extremely important to engage with your followers because as a result, they are more likely to engage with you.
In addition to a new Twitter, I created a new public Instagram profile, @krystagnidziejko. I was reluctant to post assignments on my real private Instagram which has 2,171 followers because I never use hashtags or stickers and was nervous about losing engagement. Again, I started with zero followers and promoted it through my own Instagram and immediately got followers. As of today, I have 87 followers and follow 63 people with each post averaging around 20 likes. To see engagement on Instagram, it is important to have good content — clear, high quality images, things people like such as dogs, and brighter filters.

1. In general, I think that tweets with media tend to do better than just text tweets. This meme I created for the Viral Meme Challenge got the most amount of total engagements. Promoting this tweet through a Twitter Campaign definitely allowed me to reach a larger audience than my mere 20 followers. The type of accounts that liked my post was just the audience I imagined — young, college students.

2. EVERYONE LOVES DOGS!!!! No, but really. I think that posts with animals especially dogs tend to do better in terms of engagement. Having Keith at the center of our Periscope Challenge was a success. Not only is he cute and lovable, but people want to watch dogs do tricks. Having an added media, like the Periscope video, drew in a larger audience and thus I was able to get over 2,000 organic impressions without any paid promotion.

3. I thought this picture was super cool — the app Google 360 was awesome especially within its own interface. The interactiveness of it is something I wish I could’ve share in the tweet. However, the panoramic picture itself was pretty engaging and showed the inside of my sorority house where I live. I think I could’ve gotten more engagement if I tagged @KappaKappaGamma or even just added the hashtag to attract more Kappas from across the nation.

4. I wrote this tweet because I was having a hectic week and knew a lot of people would be able to relate. The GIF also really captured how I was feeling — exhausted, rundown, and uninterested in school. Being a college student is hard and I wanted to write a tweet that was relatable but funny.

5. This is the tweet that I made for our class assignment where we had to pick a social media campaign to promote. I feel strongly about Planned Parenthood and so I felt it was fitting to pick this campaign and use multiple hashtags. By quote tweeting the official Planned Parenthood account, I was able to add more content then just simply tweeting. I could’ve probably @’d Planned Parenthood to get even more engagement.

6. This is one of the first tweets I did for our NHsmc class. I was surprised to this simple tweet got me 3 profile clicks. Like the previous GIF tweet, I think adding college problems with humor is effective because across the board, most students would be able to relate to it.

7. I think this post on Instagram did well because again an animal was featured. I also gained followers through this post because I tagged the location of where I took the photo. In addition, I tagged a dolphin lovers Instagram page to create more engagement. I added emojis in the caption of this post which is unusual for me. If I tagged more dolphin pages and added more hashtags around it, I think I could’ve brought in more likes.

8. Another Keith post — except on a different platform! Using the Instagram stickers made the post even cuter and gave off warm, fall vibes. Again, I was able to get likes because everyone likes dogs. I could’ve added more hashtags related to dogs and tagged the location of the photo to draw a larger audience.

9. Surprise, another puppy picture! I think the Instagram slideshow feature is really engaging and easy to use. Having two different pictures of the same content, in this case the dog, gives the audience more to look at and like. I would’ve gotten more engagement if I added more dog related hashtags.

10. I feel this post on Facebook did very well because I usually do not post very often. Because it is an accomplishment I am proud of, I didn’t mind making it a public post viewed to everyone on and off Facebook. I think I could’ve done better in terms of engagement if maybe I had tagged JP Morgan Chase & Co within the post. People I know well like friends and family members engaged with me but also acquaintances or people I haven’t talked to in a while also interacted with me through this post.

11. I wanted to include this tweet within my top posts even though I forgot to use our class hashtag, #NHsmc because I got so much organic engagement. I didn’t even realize how many engagements I got until the next day and was shocked. Utilizing Planned Parenthood’s two main hashtags for their campaign and @’ing them drew in a HUGE audience. With such a controversial topic, I did end up having replies from trolls that were arguing with my opinion.

We should not have to still #Fight4BirthControl, it's 2017. Support @PPact and make a difference #PlannedParenthood
