Social media is a common phrase that is talked about constantly in today’s modern day and age. Millennials have grown up in the world of advanced technology and cannot seem to live a day without checking their Instagram or sending someone a photo/video on Snapchat. In all honesty, I will admit that I am one of those people. I don’t think there is a shame in admitting that. Social media has become such an integral part of our lives that it helps keep track of what is going on in the world and keeps us all connected in various communicative ways.

I think of social media as a method of communication, but also as a way to express myself. Whether it is someone who is browsing my Instagram feed or someone who found me on the explore page, I am on social media because I want to not only connect with others, but also give the public a positive first impression. Social media has also enabled me to keep updated on fashion and express my passion for women’s lifestyle. Following bloggers and fashion designers gives my Instagram and Twitter feed a huge boost of interaction whether it is a simple double tap or a link to an important press release. By keeping up with trends and reading articles on the latest news in the fashion industry, social media has enabled me to explore my interests to another level.

Social media has become part of my routine; though, I think it is a positive movement that we have all indulged into as human beings.
Social media becoming a routine definitely is a positive movement, however there are many people that believe otherwise. Especially when hoping to become communicators, seeing the latest trends and what is going on in the world is made easier when you can take the ten minute walk to class as a way to catch up on everything that is going on. I actually wrote about social media being an extension of ourselves and the idea that your social media is often a public first impression is so true!
