This season of RuPaul’s Drag Race has been eventful from the start. From switching networks to adding a previously eliminated 14th queen to the slew of celebrity guest judges, #DragRace has been very active since the season 9 premiere two weeks ago.
After the most recent episode, most of the content of #DragRace revolves around the elimination of Charlie Hides. To save themselves from elimination, the bottom two queens must lip sync for their life. The “winner” of the lipsync gets to stay in the competition while the other must “sashay away” and leave the competition. During this lip sync between Chalie Hides and Trinity Taylor, Trinity gave it her all while Charlie simply stood there and defended herself by saying “I’m not a lip sync performer. I only sing live”.
Charlie, being the oldest contestant in Drag Race history at 52, garnered a pretty loyal following of fans who were upset to see her go.
Oh, Charlie…#SoSad #DontGo #DragRace

However, just as many fans were perplexed and surprised by Charlie’s actions, as lip sync for your life has been an integral part of the show since season 1.
If Charlie is saying she doesn't lip-sync, then why did she audition for #DragRace @RuPaulsDragRace pic.twitter.com/0CeqqKLcFf

That lip sync was honestly the most disrespectful and ridiculous thing I've watched on Drag Race History #DragRace

Additionally, many fans have noted that this season’s batch of lip syncs have not been as strong as those in the past, and have taken the opportunity to tweet out some of their favorite lipsyncs from previous seasons.
This is how you do a lip-sync battle, not that rubbish we are seeing on Season 9.#DragRace pic.twitter.com/XiUYH3pfOe

Although the content and tone of #DragRace changes throughout the season, there is always a strong sense of community and love amongst the fans for their favorite show.
