The hashtag was #Superbowl2019 is the center of the controversy over the halftime show. Many artists have come out in support of Collin Kaepernick and declined to perform. The controversy began when Kaepernick chose to not stand during the national anthem to show that he did not believe America was the “land of the free” for African Americans and other minority’s.

Some players joined Kaepernick in this protest but the NFL is still in opposition. Kaepernick has since not been resigned to the San Francisco 49’ers or any other team and celebrities have rallied behind him, voicing that they will not support the NFL until Kaepernick is back on a team and more justice overall is created.

The only artist left to make a decision is Maroon 5, and there are many opposing views as to whether or not they should perform.
