Hailing from Oakland, California, 20-year-old Kehlani is a rising R&B star whose talent has been making waves since her debut last year. After being bullied for allegedly cheating on her boyfriend, NBA star Kyrie Irving, she posted an Instagram about her suicide attempt and subsequently deleted her account.
The Twitter-sphere was quick to support her with the hashtag, #StayStrongKehlani.
Dear Kehlani, You do not have to earn love. You are lovable because you exist. #StayStrongKehlani pic.twitter.com/AvwrrhUhwa

My heart is heavy. Women are perpetually slut-shamed in the media and this crumbles our psyche! #StayStrongKehlani

There were some–including singer Chris Brown–who were even quicker to criticize her. People claimed that her suicide attempt was a stunt, or that she deserved the ridicule she received for cheating on Irving.
Why is #staystrongkehlani even a thing… Why tf you supporting someone cheating on their man?

Thankfully, her family has reported that Kehlani is doing well, and has already resumed doing what she loves. She even has a new Instagram account to celebrate her new beginning.
