My name is Sasha and I’m addicted to Twitter.
I added Twitter on to my, albeit short, list of connections in 2009. At that point in time, I was very opposed to “the Twitter thing” mostly because I didn’t understand its purpose. However, after I clicked tweet for the first time, my eyes opened and my world changed.

Twitter became my platform of choice in the formative years of my teenage self; every moment that I shared with the Twitterverse was a moment in my life that mattered. Twitter became my safe space in which I could release all of my intense teenage emotions without judgment or scrutiny. Even though I had a very small following of mostly bot-type accounts, twitter made me feel like I mattered.
A little over 9,000 tweets, 400 followers, and 2 accounts later, I couldn’t imagine my life without the little blue bird. Twitter still remains one of my most used and updated platforms. While it’s safe to say my usage has become more professional and tailored, Twitter has remained a place for me to express my feelings and so much more. Because of Twitter, my horizons have been expanded and I I feel more connected with world events; 9 times out of 10 I find out important news via Twitter. Additionally, twitter has become a platform in which I can be an activist in my own right and share how I feel about the events of the world.
I'm literally in tears in just thinking about LGBT, immigrant, and other minority communities now. #scared #upset
