April 10th, 2018, was Equal Pay Day in the United States, the symbolic day dedicated to raising awareness of the gender pay gap. The date marks how far into the year a woman has to work to make the same as a man did in the previous year. Despite being sometimes thought of as a myth, theΒ gender pay gap has been provedΒ to be real by a multitude of studies and data sets. Many people used the hashtag #EqualPayDay on Twitter to show their support for the cause, from politicians to celebrities.
It's not a radical idea to say that women should get equal pay for equal work and the same economic opportunities as men. This is an issue of basic justice. #EqualPayDay

Although, despite the facts and data regarding the pay difference between males and females in America, many people do not believe that the wage gap is a real thing. Opposers took to Twitter to tweet their disapproval of the day.
