American football is one of my favorite sports in the world to watch. I am a diehard New York Jets fan. In other words, I have put myself through misery for 20 years. However, every Sunday, like many Americans, I sit on my couch for six straight hours and watch the National Football League.
Sometimes, I will watch with casual football fans and they will always have questions about certain plays and rules. I constantly hear complaints from them that football games are too long with too many rules they do not understand. It is true; there are many rules in a game of football. Plus, some of the rules are extremely difficult to explain. I know many crazed football fanatics that cannot easily explain certain rules of the game.
One rule that I find many people do not understand is the difference between offside, encroachment, and neutral zone infraction. This video will, hopefully, clearly illustrate the difference between the penalties. Honestly, I think they should just be molded into one penalty, but that is a topic for a different video.
