Social media is a major source of connection in my life. “Staying connected” is such a cliché way to put it, but when I really think about how I use social media, there are very few aspects in my life where it is not involved.
There have been a few times that I have considered “disconnecting” myself from platforms like Facebook or Snapchat. What really stopped me from doing so was the fear that I would lose touch with my friends and family. My high school friends are all scattered across the country, so Instagram, Snapchat, and Skype are how we stay involved in each other’s lives.
Never have appreciated Skype or phone calls as much as I do now in college. Definitely the best ways to keep in touch with friends😊

I use social media solely to read the news. Twitter is a fast and easy way for me to be updated with what’s happening in the world. I can easily read the CNN or The Skimm Twitter feed on my way to class or when I first wake up in the morning. I’m not one-of-a-kind either, 86% of Twitter users use the site for news as well.
Finally, I use social media to fuel my obsession with food. I have my own food Instagram account where I post pictures of restaurants I go to and food I made myself. When I’m trying to find a new restaurant to try, I usually look on the Instagram Explore feature. There is a huge foodie community online.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m slightly addicted to social media to the point my dream job has to involve being a social media queen.
