What everyone says (or is it more of a warning?) is true. In this day and age, your online presence has become an extension of who you are. One of my first thoughts when the question, “why do you use social media?” arises is because it shows others who I am. What I’m posting and liking on all of my social media channels gives people a better idea about what I’m involved in, my thoughts and opinions and my overall life.

Growing up in three different countries and moving every few years, social media has proved to be the best way to stay connected to my friends and relatives around the world. Social media allows for quick updates on everyone’s lives. I would be lying if I told you that I didn’t use social media to virtually stalk people. Hey but I’m not ashamed, we all do it (right?). An article posted on Indy100, compared motivations of people of different ages about why they use social media. They found that 16- 24 year olds in the UK were mainly using social media to find out what their friends were doing.
