What are they protesting? They have no responsibilities. When they have a real job & start paying bills then call me. #dcpswalkout

Don't fool yourself, most of these kids just wanted a day out of school & this was a good excuse as any for them. #dcpswalkout

Calling us children that don't know anything is real funny. Little do y'all know this election affects us the most. #dcpswalkout

Today, in the DC public school districts, students exercised their right to peacefully protest against the election of Donald Trump. Students felt that the nation will be divided under President-elect Trump, so they came together in unity, with apparently over 5,000 participants. This has raised a plethora of opinions on the protest. As you can see with the embedded tweets, several students displayed their pride over twitter, and even adults commented on the bravery and unification of the students. Some, however, were not so keen. @Scorpio1080 claimed that many of the protestors were just kids looking to miss some class, while @HATEDbymany__ made a point that this election will affect teenagers in many ways. Regardless of people’s opinions on it, #DCPSWalkout is trending and getting a lot of attention.
I think that this post is a great example of how to write about the views of a controversial topic without making it all about your own opinions. You did a good job showing examples from multiple sides, and by ending the post the way that you did, you showcased that regardless of people’s views the hashtag is getting a lot of attention.
