Blog Post 3: The “Witch Hunt” Grows by The Week

New information in the Paul Manafort trial revealed in the past 48 hours has again stirred up the debate surrounding Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump Campaign. On Twitter, the hashtag #witchhunt, which of course was popularized by Trump himself, is used by both sides to ridicule either Mueller’s investigation, or Trump’s incessant complaining about the same topic. What we see from those who oppose Trump is an attempt to flip the President’s own words around on him, often using sarcasm to reinforce their point that the supposed witch hunt is much more credible than Trump would like his supporters to believe.

For those who support the current administration, the Witch Hunt has only proven itself to be even more corrupt and partisan as the months pass. They are steadfast in their belief that the entirety of the federal government has banded together in a criminal conspiracy to destroy Donald Trump. To them, any new evidence against Trump stands only to reaffirm their belief that the system has been rigged against them, that the Democrats will stop at nothing to undermine Trump’s presidency. They have yet to forgo their hatred of Hillary Clinton, nor their belief that only once she is behind bars for what usually amounts to a combination of her use of a private email server, her handling of the 2012 Benghazi Attack, and for being considered generally unlikable for an ever increasing list of reasons that range from totally arbitrary to plainly sexist.
