Twitter Game On Fleek

Start – Followers: 277 & Following: 564
End – Followers: 449 & Following: 660

Coming into the class in September, I only had 277 followers on Twitter and was far from being an active user. However, tweeting each week for class inspired me to get into regularly posting on Twitter. My current follower audience size is 449, which is 271 more than the same time 90 days ago and means that I have gained around 3 new followers per day. I noticed significant follower growth as I began to follow and engage with more Twitter users. Also, creating Twitter lists has helped me to organize certain Twitter accounts I follow into Hootsuite-like streams that show only the relevant content in which I seek.

Thanks to Klout, I am able to track my impact over the course of 90 days. I have connected my professional LinkedIn and Twitter account to Klout, which measures my social influence. According to Klout, my Twitter profile contributes 66% to my Klout score. The other 34% reflects the impact of my LinkedIn profile. In the beginning of September, my Klout score was 25.17, which is significantly lower than today’s score of 46.12. My Klout score undoubtedly improved as I began to actively post more engaging content as well as follow and interact with other users on Twitter. Moving beyond simply engaging with family and friends on social media, I began to pay more attention to what and how conversations are happening–and trending–online.

Twitter Analytics makes it easy to analyze my Tweet activity over a given timeframe. During this 90-day period (September 2 – November 30), I earned 632 impressions per day. The most impressions were on the days when I was retweeted or in a Twitter conversation with someone on Twitter who has significant more influence than myself (such as @Periscopetv, @EthanZ, @jmgrygiel). Twitter Analytics illustrates which of my Tweets were the most influential and engaging. Using the information provided by Twitter Analytics, I am able to gain valuable insight from understanding which Tweets boast the highest levels of engagement.

Twitter Analytics illustrates the growth of my Twitter following as a result of actively posting relevant and timely content. From 8,364 impressions in September to a record 24.9K in October, this dramatic increase in the number of Tweet impressions reflects how the reach and exposure of my Tweets are amplified when shared to another’s social network. In this way, I typically would gain several additional followers as a result of being retweeted. Similarly, employing trending hashtags and taking part in hot topics of conversations helped enhance my digital presence in terms of relevance.
