This week, people tweeted the hashtag #GeauxVote, which encouraged people to go vote for the new Louisiana State Governor. The candidates included Democratic incumbent John Bel Edwards and Republican Eddie Rispone.
The hashtag is a spin off of popular Louisiana sayings like #GeauxTigers, in which people add an -eaux suffix to words to make them more southern.

But Edwards isn’t the only person with an influential backing. President Trump called on voters via Twitter to support true “Louisiana Patriot” Eddie Rispone against “Radical Liberal” Edwards. The Louisiana GOP also showed its support for President Trump and the conservative movement by utilizing hashtags like, #MAGA, #StoptheCoup, and #LeadRight in its tweets.
This Saturday, the eyes of history are looking at the people of Louisiana. If you want to defend your values, your jobs, and your freedom, then you need to REPLACE Radical Liberal John Bel Edwards with a true Louisiana Patriot: @EddieRispone! #GeauxVote pic.twitter.com/odAuD5DFPB

An Australian Twitter user with the handle @AusAntiLeft contributed to conversations around the hashtag #GeauxVote by sustaining that voter fraud will be the reason for a Democratic win, which falls in line with tactics that conservatives often use to discredit Democratic victories.
How much fraud will happen in New Orleans to give the Dems the win?#lagov

Edwards eventually took the victory over Rispone.
