I Still Don’t Like Twitter; But Now I Understand It

Coming into a social media class as non-social media person was most definitely a challenge. I was not exactly thrilled at the thought of having to tweet on a regular basis- even on a weekly basis. After taking this course I am still not a huge fan of Twitter but I can use it efficiently on a professional level. The tools we have learned throughout the semester grew my followers from 0 to 50. My Klout score went from a 12.31 to 47.95, surely due to the increase in frequency of my posts. It was out of my comfort zone to share more than the occasional article on Facebook, or mandatory beach picture of Dominican Republic on Instagram so I am sure posting a few times a week increased my engagement.klout

In addition, I earned 49 clicks on links and 80 likes. My audience is most interested in Comedy (Movies and Television) with 62%, and Business and news following with a 52%. The things that worked the most for my tweets I think were definitely the use of hashtags, I found that a lot of my top tweets had triggered engagement because I used a trending hashtag or a relevant one. Another significant observation was that tweets with media (pictures, videos, etc.) did much better than plain text ones. Overall, I would say that 50 followers for a stranger to Twitter and an increase of 35.64 on my Klout score shows just how much you can increase your engagement with frequent and smart use.
