When I take a look back at the viral challenge and the meme that I created, there are a few things that I can reflect on. When I first created the meme, I was interested in finding a way to engage a wide range of users.

After completing the dot exercise in class and recognizing other student’s memes, I saw how the school-related memes were more relatable to almost every student and received higher engagement. As a technology major, I am often approached by people to help translate the constantly evolving technology world. Because of this, my meme completely resonated with my life and I was maybe a bit naïve in thinking other people would feel similarly.

Something that worked very well for me was when I posted my meme and the imgur link on Facebook. After posting the link, I watched my views increase immensely. Since my meme reflected Selma, my friend Hailee’s great grandmother, my Facebook friends were extremely engaged with my meme. I tagged Hailee and her mom, therefore, all of their Facebook friends also saw the post and clicked on the link. I felt that my meme was relatable and resonated well with a younger audience. It related to the common frustration of teaching a parent or grandparent how to use technology. Some other things that worked well for me was tweeting at active times and constantly including my imgur link in each post. Also, on imgur, I shared my meme to the community repeatedly.

Although I strived to reach 500 views, I am very satisfied with my final engagement numbers and I believe that my campaign was successful.
