Months ago, Los Angeles was chosen as the United States city to bid for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. If putting on the Olympics were free, most would not oppose hosting in the United States. However, hosting the Olympic Games cost a monumental amount of taxpayer money and cities do not see positive returns until much after the Games have concluded (if at all). The California government has passed a bill to cover $250 in cost overruns, which many see as positive. However, @LA2024News speaks of what $250 million could be used for in a more positive way. The tweet by @NoGamesUSA does not agree with the person who has been chosen to lead the LA 2024 bid because he “screwed up” the bids for Boston and Chicago. On the other hand, other tweets are excited and speak of cost saving because LA has already hosted the games before and has the necessary infrastructure.
