My Top Tweets

When our Social Media for the Communicators class started in January, I had 431 followers. Now, in April, I finish with 468. My percentage growth was 9%.

My Klout score in January was 34, today, it is 36.

Personally, I gained most of my followers through using hashtags or from following highly influential people on Twitter. I also noticed an increase in followers when I would add a person’s handle in my Tweet’s or tweet about a trending topic.

Here are my top 10 tweets, along with their analytics:

1:

For this Tweet, I used my own unique hashtag and introduced my goals in life. I think if I were to re-do this tweet, I would have tagged @BenandJerrys, I would have also added more hashtags that were relatable. Overall, I still think this first tweet received a decent amount of engagement.

2:

This tweet was for our viral meme challenge and was the tweet I used to promote through Twitter Ads. Before I promoted the Tweet, it still was high in likes and retweets. The Yodeling Walmart kid was trending at the time and I used a variety of hashtags in different categories.

3:

My “Unpopular Opinions” periscope video was one of my top tweets this semester. I think the concept of having unpopular opinions is interesting and using periscope I think definitely helped with my impressions. Periscope is widely used and for the future I would definitely try to use the live streaming tool more often.

4:

For my Twitter poll I wanted to make one based on a popular topic or items/food that was well known. I tagged McDonalds in the tweet hoping to earn engagement from their handle as well as added an ice cream emoji for some visual. I could have included more hashtags and possibly more emojis in this specific tweet.

5:

I tweeted this tweet right after the opening ceremonies for the Winter Olympics took place and added the hashtags for Team USA. I also tagged the location of where my pictures were taken as the Herb Brooks Arena is extremely well known. I think adding the visuals and pictures was important for this tweet and I included some winter sport emojis.

6:

This Twitter video earned a lot of impressions and a decent amount of favorites. Similar with periscope, I think that anytime somebody posts a Twitter video more people want to watch it. On Twitter we see many videos going viral, especially since Vine is not an app anymore.

7

I tweeted this out right before I went to the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid. This was also right before the opening ceremonies for the Olympics. Creating our own GIFS was fun and I think that GIFS are also very popular on Twitter and earn a lot of engagement. I would have liked to include more emojis for this tweet and more hashtags centered around the Olympics.

8:

I think a large part of earning a large amount of impressions on this Tweet was because I used the Twitter handle of somebody famous. Jersey Shore was also trending around this time because MTV had announced the revival of the show for the upcoming spring. It was difficult to create my own Twitter hashtag and find something that has not been used in the past, but it worked well with this tweet.

9:

Once again, my tweets that used images or visuals seemed to earn the most impressions and engagement. I think this tweet was different and the visual of my closet door was unique. I would have liked to use StubHub’s handle and also more emojis.

10:

This tweet was not apart of the class assignments but was one that was important to me. I tweeted this about a week after the horrific events that happened in Parkland, Florida. I think this tweet received a lot of impressions because the topic was controversial but also relatable to many individuals. The March For Our Lives tweets have been going viral since the incident occurred and continue to trend. Naturally, when you share your opinion or tweet about your beliefs I think more people like to engage and also share and retweet their opinions as well.
