In only four months, I have learned how to find, share and tell my best news stories through Twitter. This class prepared me to find the right people and influencers that would make my stories powerful and influential.
Being very active in twitter was definitely a best way to increase my Klout score and number of followers in Twitter. I started my semester with 218 twitter followers and now I have 255. More over, I increased by Klout score from 22 to 42.
One of the most important things I learned about this class is that being active in twitter is correlated with coming up content that creates a conversation. I think that what worked the best was using various forms of media (photos, videos, GIFS) to make my tweets more entertaining. On the other hand, I realized that I need to stop just retweeting without adding some other content to my tweet. Retweeting alone didn’t gave me any engagement from my followers.
The key tools that helped me to be part of a conversation are the following: trending hashtags based on the place I was in, GIFS, and schedule tweets through tweetdeck.
Let me show you these results with my top 10 tweets:
This is a special shoutout to Dance Dance Revolution- which taught me salsa moves #nationalvideogamesday #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/PoZC5J99Mb

I remember I was extremely happy about this tweet because it got a lot of engagement and it had content that I personally cared and enjoyed. This was a successful tweet with 91 engagements because it included a trending hashtag that day. Moreover, the GIF was literally self explanatory and very helpful to call the attention of my followers. Finally, I schedule this tweet at a time I consider a lot of people may check their twitter (10 to noon).

@angelikmarh we are so glad to be a part of your daily routine! 🤘🏻😍
— Cafe Kubal (@CafeKubal) September 26, 2016
This tweet only had 12 engagements. However, it was one of my top tweets because I got a direct reply from Cafe Kubal. This tweet was successful because it contained a lot of media (including twitter’s stickers) and because it targeted correctly the Syracuse Community through local hashtags.

This tweet was definitely one of the most successful tweets I had. Wow, I had 212 total engagements. The tweet went well because it targeted a real-time activity that we were doing in the class that day. Most of our classmates were watching the periscope and sharing it in their profiles. Moreover, I used the hashtag of the class, which targeted one of the most influential accounts (@jmgryfgiel).

This tweet was very successful because it targeted an specific audience and it created a conversation. The use of hashtags and mentioning the direct account of the journalist was key to the tweet’s engagement. I got 118 total engagements including retweets and a direct response from Mariana Atencio. I forgot to add the #NHsmc hashtag (I did it later replying to myself).

This tweet got a great engagement because it targeted one of the most important events in the U.S. at the moment and it expanded the conversation on how people were feeling about the elections. Regardless I didn’t use the class hashtag, I used the tools we learn in class to create a “flow” content. I got 144 total engagements because I used trending hashtags and the GIF.
Obsessed with #snapchatfilters? You’ll definitely identify with this meme #NHsmc https://t.co/X2EIELw0zh

This tweet went well because it involved a twitter ad campaign. I got 56 total engagements because I used the hashtags that targeted the audience I wanted (I remember two accounts related to dog products followed me immediately) and the ad campaign allowed me to add the card I designed that showed my content and directly led users to the Imgur website.

This tweet was pretty successful because the content was creative and it showed the reality of many students who have early classes in the morning.I used the twitter video tool that allows you to record videos in various segments. It got a total of 37 engagements.

— Angelica Rodriguez H (@angelikmarh) October 31, 2016
This tweet got 20 engagements mostly because of the media engagement. The tweet got this engagement because it included the Halloween hashtag (a day before halloween) and it targeted the students at Syracuse with the official account of the Univeristy. The two people that liked it were SU students.
Hey @SyracuseU students-we all know how hard #midterms could be…but here is some motivation that will help out for sure #NHsmc #Syracuse pic.twitter.com/07IGk7wr2M

This is my favorite tweet of the semester. It expanded the conversation on a national protests against the hate and fear prompted at the election. The tweet was very successful because it had a video, trending hashtags and the official account of the school. The tweet got 186 engagements.
