Shaking up the United States Championship Title

On last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, CEO of WWE Vince McMahon made his grand return to RAW with a big announcement. He made the announcement that there would be a “superstar shakeup.” The purpose of a “superstar shakeup” is to reshape both the RAW and Smackdown roster by switching superstars.

After the announcement, fans wondered as to where each of the WWE superstars would end up.

On tonight’s episode of Smackdown, it was announced that WWE Superstars AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, and Baron Corbin would face each other in a “Triple Threat No.1 Contender’s Match” to determine who would face Kevin Owens, the WWE United States Champion, for his title.

After finding out that AJ Styles, a “main card” superstar, was in this “mid card” match, some fans shared their viewpoints as to why they felt that AJ Styles did not belong in the match.

While those fans complained about AJ Styles not contending for WWE Championship, others celebrated because they felt that AJ Styles, would bring status back to the United States championship title.

  1. I’m interested to hear your opinion about this. Do you think AJ Styles, a “main card” superstar should be battling for the U.S. Title and help bring it back to glory? Or do you think he should be going after the WWE title? If the same superstars are fighting for the same title over and over, the story line gets tired and boring and new life needs to be injected somehow. I honestly feel that having AJ Styles compete for the U.S. title keeps him relevant and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his shot at the WWE title again. It all comes down to storyline more than anything else.
