Syracuse Remembers its “Pearl”

The Syracuse community lost a cherished member today. Dwayne “Pearl” Washington passed away at the age of 52. Here’s how he was remembered by the campus community:

Pearl’s reach went far beyond Syracuse, as multiple people and teams extended their condolences as well:

Rest in peace Pearl. Best wishes for his family and friends, he was a great man and athlete who will be dearly missed.

  1. It’s great to see so many different people from different communities come together and offer their condolences to the family of Pearl Washington. It’s amazing how much coverage the story got (and rightfully so). From Joe Biden to Stephen A. Smith to the Miami Heat, they all came together to show their support for Washington and his family.
