This past October, the long awaited season 2 of Stranger Things was released on Netflix. Fans flocked to the platform to watch the new nine episode season. Upon finishing the new season, people took to social media to discuss, using the hashtag #StrangerThings2. While a lot of fans raved about the new season, there was one episode that fans seemed to be split over, episode 7. This episode introduces us to another child from the mysterious government lab, Eight, who is supposed to be Eleven’s (a main character from season 1) long lost sister. Eleven goes to find her sister and the episode focuses on their reunion and Eight’s gang of misfits that go out and kill people for revenge.
The two tweets below show how fans were split over this episode. These two tweets seem to be in conversation with each other, with one fan expressing love for the 80s motifs and the other deeming that they felt forced and unnecessary.
Watched #StrangerThings2 E7 last night. People who hate it clearly haven’t grown up in the 80s. What a perfect 80’s pastiche of a delinquent youth gang it was. Loved it. pic.twitter.com/8aIUrsDvMA

#StrangerThings2 very good but not close to first season. Episode 7 is garbage. IMHO too focused on checking all 80s references and not enough on acting and shooting

A few fans really liked the episode, stating that it provided a break from all the drama and advanced Eleven’s character development.
I’ve seen a lot of complaints about episode 7 of #StrangerThings2 but I thought it was actually pretty great. Sure it almost felt like a different show, but it freshened things up and expanded the world in an intriguing way. I guess most peoples problem was the change in momentum

Controversial take: I️ liked episode 7 of #StrangerThings2. I️ think it gave us insight into how 11’s emotions work and fleshed her out as a character, all while building a world connected to but not directly in Hawkins.

But a majority felt like the episode was a waste of time.
Literally nothing I care about happened at all in episode 7 of #StrangerThings2 except a strong urge to try out a smoky eye more often.

Late to the party but I finally finished #StrangerThings2… all I can say the story line and main characters were so fricking amazing. However, episode 7 was the mostly pointless filler episode ever and as cute as the ending were, I really don’t know how they’ll do series 3 👀
