The National Championship on Social Media

The men’s NCAA National Championship took place in Houston Monday night between No. 1 seed North Carolina and No. 2 seed Villanova. In a back-and-forth game tied at 74 with a few seconds remaining, Villanova’s Kris Jenkin’s hit a buzzer-beater three-point shot to win the game and thus Villanova’s first National Championship since 1985.

While most of the tweets including #NationalChampionship are highlights and reactions of the men’s game, I am focusing on tweets pertaining to tonight’s game; the women’s National Championship. The three-time reigning champion UConn Huskies will take on our beloved Syracuse Orange in the Orange’s first trip to the championship game.

Most of these tweets are alumni and fans showing their school spirit and pride but I am shocked to see how many tweets are in support of the Syracuse women. The Orange have already made school history in making its first Elite Eight, Final Four and championship game appearances. This National Championship would be the icing on the cake for this team, and I am proud to see how many believers are out there.

So best of luck to the Syracuse women’s basketball team in the #NationalChampionship tonight!

LET’S GO ORANGE.

(While this tweet doesn’t include #NationalChampionship it is the best one I have seen thus far.)
