Throughout this marketing campaign, I realized how tricky it can be to have something “go viral.” There are so many memes, images, and videos up on the web, that it is all too easy to have your content get lost in the clutter.
My campaign objectives were as follows…
- To enhance a web presence and expand on social marketing with 500+ Imgur views.
- Reach desired target audience.
- Increase brand awareness – track retweets, mentions, shares, followers count, reach of post – specifically aiming for a 5% increase in followers and 10+ post retweets.
- Drive traffic from social media to Imgur post.
My Imgur meme campaign ended up being a success, as I reached 520 Imgur views, however there were a couple of bumps along the way. I was unable to successfully launch a Twitter Webcard due to various technical issues that kept coming up. Additionally, I believe my $5 Twitter Ads spend ended up being unsuccessful, since my content gained zero additional views once promoted.
I utilized fun, engaging captions to get people to interact with my posts. I shared a few Tweets below as examples…

I ended my campaign with 520 views on Imgur, successfully achieving my goal of 500+ views. While some campaign objectives of mine were not met (10+ post retweets), I was able to drive traffic out from Twitter and on to Imgur. I also did notice a 5% increase in followers while this campaign was live. While I am unsure as to whether or not this was specifically due to my meme, or if it had to do with other tweets that I posted throughout the campaign, I still did reach this objective. Overall, despite a few minor issues, I did enhance my web presence and “go viral” with this campaign.
