The Worlds Strongest Bond: Social Media

I strongly believe that social media has, and will continue to, bring the world closer together. Social media offers the world the opportunity to increase our communication with one another through a different platform other than face to face. In addition to being the main power tool to reconnect with old friends, establish new friendships, or just learning about people’s daily lives, social media has broken through boundaries which has resulted in individuals interacting with different people throughout the world.  Social media permits individuals to become a part of a community that they typically would be incapable to take part in. If I had to choose one word to describe social media it would be connection. Personally, that is how I look at social media. I use platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat to connect and share my life with different individuals. I use Facebook to look at pictures of family and friends and I use Instagram to share with my follower’s photos that I personally like (and in hopes that they will like them too).

Social media is also my main source of information. As I am not an avid newspaper reader, I use platforms like Facebook and Twitter to keep me updated on real- time events happening in the word. Social media allows me to stay updated in the fastest way possible. In fact, as I am writing this post, I am watching as @FoxNews does live Twitter updates on Hurricane Irma.

In addition to being informed on current events, social media is also a huge entertainment aspect to my life as memes are now filling up my newsfeeds on a daily basis!
