Top 10 Tweet Countdown

Part 1

I was overall very happy with my influencer growth on Twitter. I started with 180 followers and increased by 8% to 194 followers. My Klout score, however, dropped from a 32 to a 30. I feel as though I engaged a decent amount via Twitter and I completed all of the class assignments. The fact that I did not, however, tweet much outside of homework assignments may be telling to my Klout score dropping. I should have went above and beyond and aimed to send tweets out at least two times a day. I felt that I incorporated useful, relevant, and a decent amount of hashtags in my tweets and that truly aided in increasing my follower account. I received good engagement and impressions when I used hashtags, and even garnered some followers from the use of certain hashtags. In order to increase my influence and followers on Twitter, I need to become more active and engage with other influencers.

Part 2

This first tweet was an assignment to incorporate a video within a tweet. I’m pretty shocked that this is one of my best performing tweets! I received a ton of engagement and impressions on this tweet, and I believe it is due to the use of relevant, niche hashtags, as well as the incorporation of rich media in the form of a video.

This next tweet was a part of the Viral Content Challenge where we created a webcard. While it did not perform exceptionally, I believe it did pretty well. I incorporated a variety of relevant, trending hashtags and effectively teased the meme in order to entice viewers to click on the link. I think it appealed to a specific audience, therefore it performed well.

This tweet was an assignment to comment of the Zuckerberg Trials that we were watching live during class. I incorporated trending hashtags as well as a relevant and comical GIF, which I believe aided in appealing to the masses. As we have learned in class, tweets that incorporate rich media usually perform better than those without. It was really exciting to see the engagement on this tweet!

For this assignment, we were instructed to exhibit “social media in real life,” so I chose to display my record collection. I’m not too sure why this got a decent amount of impressions, as it was my first tweet for the class so I did not have the tools that I do contain today, but I think it was creative and caught some people’s eye. It permitted for people to engage and respond, and some people, including Professor Grygiel, did! It was a fun way to learn about classmates and my other Twitter followers. I think the incorporation of an emoji as well as rich media helped to enhance the tweet.

For this assignment, we had to create a media gallery on Twitter. I decided to choose a theme of summer, sunsets and the beach. I think this tweet performed well because it is very relatable to many of my followers, as most of them originate from the New York/Long Island area, as well as my incorporation of rich media, emojis and niche hashtags that foster a sense of community around Long Island beaches and summers. It was really exciting to see this tweet do well and receive 9 likes!

This next assignment was to create a Twitter Moments, a really cool and unique feature that Twitter has. I created mine around food, specifically pizza. I hand picked certain photos and tweets that incorporated pizza within them and created a Moments. I think what helped me achieve a decent amount of engagement and impressions was my incorporation of the hashtag #NYpizza, which seemed to have a lot of buzz. Additionally, many people have a love for pizza, so who would not love to see a Moments filled with delicious slices of pizza? It’s light and relatable content that people are able to resonate well with.

This tweet was part of the “flow” content assignment. I found that #LoveYourPetDay was trending on 2/20/2018, so I decided to capitalize it and show off my adorable dog! I even incorporated information about his breed via a link to an outside source. I used niche, specific hashtags that targets a certain community and I also used rich media in the form of a picture to further engage users. Personally, I think this should have performed much better, especially because of the adorable picture! Nonetheless, it still received decent engagement.

This tweet was not a part of a class assignment, but I decided to utilize skills that I learned in class while I was craving an acai bowl one day. I used a variety of relevant hashtags as well as an appealing picture to lure in an audience. I received 6 likes and some replies, mostly from people who sympathize with my evident complaints about the lack of acai bowls in Upstate NY. This tweet did well because it was relatable to a niche audience and it displayed rich media, which always helps a tweet perform better.

This was an extremely exciting tweet for me! It was for our #FollowFriday assignment. I decided to pick some music industry experts, since that is the field I would love to pursue, and while I only received one like, I got a reply from one of the people mentioned, Claude Kelly! That was extremely exciting and rewarding to see. I think my use of rich media helped to lure him in, since it was creative and relevant to the music industry!

My final tweet is from the assignment where we had to cross-promote one of our other social media accounts. I promoted my Instagram account and provided readers with my handle as well as a photo of what my page looks like. I incorporated emojis and hashtags that best describe what I enjoy posting on my account. This received decent engagement and I even garnered some Instagram followers from it! Once again, using rich media helps immensely.

In analyzing all of my top 10 posts, I notice a recurring theme. It seems that all of my posts incorporate a form of rich media, whether it be a photo, video, or even an emoji! Evidently, plain-text tweets do not gather as much attention as rich media tweets do. This will be extremely helpful knowledge as I continue my Twitter account and attempt at gaining influence on the platform!
