Trump Does It Again: His Comment Becomes a Trending Hashtag and People are Outraged

During an event honoring the Native Americans that served our country, Donald Trump calls Elizabeth Warren, “Pocahontas.” Some found this to be a racial slur, others didn’t see the problem. His words were as follows:

“You were here long before any of us were here, although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas.”

Warren commented to MSNBC saying, “It is deeply unfortunate that the president of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur.”

The following tweets depict some of the public’s view of the situation:

It appears that steph93065 is in support of this comment, and that it is Trump’s job to “make such remarks.” #StephWillNeverLearn.

I agree, Susan.

Avila almost convinced me for a second. But the fact of the matter is, this ceremony is about veterans, and no one else. Elizabeth Warren should not have been mentioned just because she had claimed to have Native American ancestors. Whether it is a slur or not, I am unsure. The important thing to understand is that it was not the right place nor the right time for such a remark, and overall, there were more people condemning this comment than defending it.
