Viral Video Content Challenge: Part 2
Lindsay Schiffman
Video: Your Cheese Plate vs. My Cheese Plate
Background:
After watching “your mimosa vs. my mimosa” on Buzzfeed, I was inspired to do something similar… but with food! This idea was bolstered by the success of my food quiz (promoted from Community Posts) as well as #BuzzFeedCrowdTangle 10x Viral Alerts, which included many food posts.
Goals and objectives:
- Create a “me too!” moment
- High engagements with target audience
- 18-29 year olds who are on the brink of “adult” cheese plates, but still love their cheesy college snacks
- People tagging their friends, “hey this is you!” or “I’m the left/right”
- mature/immature comparison, for those friend groups who has the “child” of the group (my cheese plate) or the “adult of the friend group (your cheese plate)
- 2,000 views, over 100 likes and 20 shares (**this was when I thought it was being posted on BuzzFeed BFF)
Metrics:
- 14 comments (such as Ali Simon: “so yummy”, Julia Sheinbaum: “Now I rly need cheese.” And Adriana Ortega tagging her friend “Allie Lesh”)
- Impressions: 89
- Media views: 31
- Total engagements: 11
- Profile clicks: 6
- Media engagements: 4
- Replies: 1 (@BrettVergara “*clapping hands emoji* *clapping hands emoji* *clapping hands emoji*”)
Analysis:
While I didn’t reach my original measurable objectives (I created the marketing plan when I thought our videos would be posted on BuzzFeed BFF), I am satisfied with my engagements. One of my main goals was for this video to connect with someone, create a call to action and tag their friend to share the feeling. One of my Facebook friends, Adriana Ortega, did exactly so and tagged one of her friends (and I promise I didn’t ask her to!). I had other positive feedback and comments such as “!!!!!!” “now I rly need cheese” and “so yummy” which are the enthusiastic reactions I was hoping for. On Twitter, I didn’t have as high engagements, but I am pleased with the amount of impressions (89). The one comment I got on my Twitter video was from @BrettVergara with the clapping hands emoji. Overall, in the future I would continue to post videos like “Your Cheese Plate vs. My Cheese Plate on Facebook over Twitter. But, Twitter had a specific algorithm for viewing the tweet activity, while Facebook only showed my likes and comments. In the future, I hope that Facebook will roll out a better/easier data experience for those who are looking at the numbers behind posts.
